How to register your automobile in Slovakia?

In case you intend to have an official residence in Slovak Republic, or to open a limited liability company here, but you have your automobile in other country, there is a possibility to make a registration of your motor vehicle in Slovakia. In fact, every motor vehicle imported from abroad to the  Slovak Republic must be registered in evidence of the vehicles of Slovakia. All the procedure is in competence of authorized department of Transport Inspectorate of Slovak Republic and relevant police district. It is important also to know, that you have to register your motor vehicle within 30 days of your arrival in Slovakia. The essential is to have at disposal a complete technical documentation of your motor vehicle. Slovak registration plates consist of two letters of district code, three numbers and other two random letters. It is good to know that from June 2020 Slovakia is starting to make also green vehicle registration plates (for hybrid and electric vehicles).

Your motor vehicle, of course, will have to take a complete technical control in Slovak Republic. Part of the necessary procedure is also ´control of originality´, which should examine, if the vehicle is capable of the road transport of the particular country (so called ´roadworthiness´). Your car has to have fitting and convenient lights, headlights, tires, brakes, axles of vehicle, oil leakage, operating fluids…
